The concept for the trade fair town Munich-Riem was developed through several competitions. The guidelines of the whole housing and the first stage of construction for habitation (50 ha) have been designed by the Architects Reiner+Weber and Valentien+Valentien. The objective was to create an open urban development with high density but also attractive open landscapes. A hierarchic system of public squares and green areas connects almost flats with the landscape park Riem. The centralised West-East green corridor is part of a greater sequence of public areas as well as an important landmark for orientation.
